Research Building I houses key infrastructure in oxide thin-film synthesis, x-ray characterization, optical spectroscopy, scanning probe microscopies and electrical characterization. Nearby, the Monteith Research Center houses the NCSU Nanofabrication Facility, a 7,400 sq. ft. cleanroom, and the NCSU Analytical Instrumentation Facility, which supports key electron microscopy and spectroscopy characterization facilites, including the state-of-the-art Titan G4 aberration-corrected and monochromated scanning transmission electron microscope. This microscope will be unique in an academic institution and will provide an unprecedented ability to characterize structure and chemistry at the atomic length scale.
